Frequently Asked Questions
Can someone use their cell phone as an extension?
Yes, you are able to use a cell phone as an extension with the use of the our VoIP application that can be downloaded.
I want to make use of VoIP but would like to keep my current Telkom number, is this possible?
Yes, most providers allow number portability, so you can use the same number you had with your original phone provider. Most providers charge for this, so be sure to check with your provider.
Also, you should be aware that number portability is not instant, and can take up to 10 working days.
How secure are VoIP calls?
Documented instances of VoIP security breaches have been few and far between. Also, encryption for VoIP subscriber units have laid to rest many VoIP security questions.
How does VoIP work?
Utilizing a combination of hardware, software, and voice protocols, your conversations are carried over the IP network to its intended destination.
A VoIP system converts the analog audio signals (your voice) into digital data that can be understood by VoIP-enabled devices and transmitted over the Internet Protocol (IP) network to the other end of the call.
Why VoIP Service?
Our VoIP service reduces your monthly phone bill, and also offers you the flexibility you need.
Is the 3CX application available to download on iPhone?
Yes, the 3CX application is available for download on iOS, Android, PC and Mac via their respective app stores.
Can I take my number with me when I travel?
Yes. Most providers allow you to use your VoIP service wherever you travel as long as you have a high-speed Internet connection and either a VoIP phone adapter or a mobile app. Through any of these media,
calling works just as if you were dialing from your home or business, but without incurring the additional roaming charges common to traditional telecom networks.
What is VoIP?
VoIP stands for ìVoice over Internet Protocolî. An Internet Protocol (IP) is a data-oriented protocol used for communicating data across a packet-switched network (home, office, the internet). Internet Protocols (IP) allow you to transmit data to any interconnected networks.
What does VoIP do?
VoIP allows you to make phone calls over any computer network instead of using traditional analog PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) lines. Because the calls are generated through the Internet, VoIP systems treat phone calls as internet traffic, regardless of distance or duration.
What are some of the benefits of VoIP?
Voicemail to email: listen to the recording directly from your inbox
Web collaboration tools: easily turn any device into a conferencing unit and have a call anywhere
Advanced analytics: real-time analytics to analyse the patterns and make wise business decisions
Call me/ Follow me routing: redirects calls coming in to your desk phone, or main line, to somewhere else that will be more convenient for you
Is it possible to replace the current traditional corporate PBX with a VoIP one?
Absolutely yes! VoIP is a very cost-effective option for those companies who want to upgrade their old PBX systems. VoIP ensures new features that traditional PBX systems simply do not. To change to a VoIP system,
companies can buy an IP PBX, but it is also possible to add some VoIP functionalities into an existing phone system provided they are capable of this.
